THE FILMMAKERS
WILL CANON: Director/Co-writer
Will is an honors graduate of New York University’s film program. While at NYU, he wrote and directed the award-winning short film Roslyn, which has aired on Showtime, The Sundance Channel, and HBO International. Roslyn was selected as a semi-finalist in Chrysler’s Million Dollar Film Festival where Will traveled to France to make his next short, Air Jesus, for Chrysler, Hypnotic, and Universal Pictures. Will was then selected to participate in the prestigious Fox Searchlab, the new directors lab at Fox Searchlight Pictures where he had a first-look deal and completed his next film, Youngster. Youngster has been in over fifty film festivals worldwide and was recently sold to Shorts International. Brotherhood is based on Will’s short film, Roslyn, and is his first feature film.
DOUG SIMON: Co-writer
Doug is an honors graduate of New York University's film program. Upon graduation Doug produced the short film, Air Jesus, which won the Audience Award at the Chrysler Million Dollar Film Festival. Doug then co-wrote and associate produced the critically acclaimed and award-winning short film, Youngster. Youngster has played in over fifty film festivals around the world including AFI, the London International Film Festival, Urbanworld, and the Austin Film Festival. Brotherhood marks Doug's feature writing debut.
CHRIS POLLACK: Producer
Chris Pollack is a Producer, Talent Manager and Branded Content executive at the multifaceted production company/management firm Generate. Chris maintains and services a select group of clients and works in the Television, Feature Film, Digital and Advertising spaces. Focusing on moving his client’s projects from the page to the screen, Chris works in both studio and independent arenas. Prior to producing Brotherhood, Chris produced the New Line feature After the Sunset that starred Salma Hayek, Pierce Brosnan, Woody Harrelson, Don Cheadle and was directed by Brett Ratner. In addition to After the Sunset, Chris was influential in putting the ABC series Daybreak on the air and continues to represent the show’s creator. Chris also represents Producer and Executive Producer clients on such network hits as LOST and Scrubs.
STEVEN HEIN: Producer
Steven currently serves as the Vice-President of Digital and Branded Entertainment at Fox Digital Entertainment where he works across 20th Century Fox’s film and television studios to extend franchises and launch new entertainment IP in the digital space. Prior to joining the studio, Steven worked as an independent producer and digital media consultant. With director Sam Raimi, Steven produced the Boogeyman trilogy for Sony Pictures. In the new media space he has worked with FearNet, Disney, Comcast, iFilm and Atom Films. Prior to his career as an independent producer, Steven worked as head of production for Hypnotic. There he served as a producer on the 2003 Chrysler Million Dollar Film Festival, the 2004 MasterCard Priceless Experience, and won the Golden Lion at Cannes 2003 for Reebok’s short-film and commercial series Terry Tate: Office Linebacker.
TIM O’HAIR: Producer
Tim O’Hair is with the Motion Picture Finance department of Paradigm, working on independent film packaging, structured finance, international co-production, and film sales. Prior to becoming an agent, he was an independent producer of such titles as the 2008 IFC release How To Rob A Bank and Sony’s The Plague. Previously, O’Hair was a production executive at Universal Pictures, where he helped oversee numerous projects through development and production, including: Bring It On, Bridget Jones’s Diary, 8 Mile, The Family Man, How High, U-571, and Hulk. O’Hair began his career in New York, as a financial and sales executive at Orion Pictures International. He holds an A.B. from Dartmouth College and an M.B.A. from Columbia University.
JASON CROFT: Producer
Jason has been working in the film and video industry since 1992. He spent the early part of his film career as a Director of Photography, shooting and lighting dozens of short films, commercials and features. On the indie feature, Falling Hard, Jason worked as director of photography as well as producer and was instrumental in finding distribution for the film. Jason went on to co-produce and DP the short film, Youngster, which was made for Fox Searchlab. Jason continues to DP and produce independent films and served as DP on the film, Earthling, which will have its world premiere at the 2010 South By Southwest Film Festival.
JAMIE PATRICOF: Executive Producer
Jamie is the founder of Hunting Lane Films, a production company based in Los Angeles. In 2006 he produced Half Nelson, which went on to win three Gotham Awards, two Independent Spirit Awards, and a “Best Actor” Oscar nomination for Ryan Gosling at the 2007 Academy Awards. Jamie also produced the documentary film Confessions of a Superhero, released in 2007, and Sugar, released by Sony Pictures Classics in April 2009. Jamie recently completed Blue Valentine starring Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams, which premiered at Sundance 2010 and will be released this year by The Weinstein Company. Jamie is also an executive producer for the television shows The Rachel Zoe Project and Espn's 30/30.
KEVIN IWASHINA: Executive Producer
Kevin recently formed Parlay Media with producer Ross Dinerstein. Kevin serves as president of IP Advisors, the film sales side of the consultancy division of the company. Kevin represents films, raises financing, and advises on distribution. After ten years in the indie division at CAA, Kevin founded and ran The General Media Company, a film and TV sales, production and financing company. Kevin has recently represented such films as Polanski: Wanted and Desired, Man on Wire, Valentino: The Last Emperor, Food Inc., and Humpday with Submarine’s Josh Braun. Kevin represented four films at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival: Lovers of Hate, Life 2.0, 8: The Mormon Proposition, and Climate Refugees.
